| Admission Criteria | Matriculation into the programme requires that an applicant meets one of the following criteria: At least five (5) subjects at CSEC (General Proficiency) grades I, II or III or GCE 'O' Level Grades A, B, or C and must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and one (1) other Science Subject. Note that applicants without CSEC Physics may be admitted on a provisional basis pending the successful completion of PHY1200-Foundation Physics offered by the University. An applicant possessing PHY1200 instead of CSEC Physics along with the other subjects listed above will be admitted to the programme. Note that, as far as possible, PHY1200 will be offered in all three semesters to cater for all students without CSEC Physics qualification.
OR
A Certificate/Diploma/Associate Degree/Bachelor's Degree from the University of Guyana, plus a 'Pass' in one of the following such as PHY031, PHY1200, CSEC, GCE 'O' Level, CAPE Unit 1 or GCE 'AS' Level Physics.
OR
As Associate Degree in Science from CXC or other Examination Board or University.
OR
A Trained Teachers' Certificate or Associate Degree in Education (option: Secondary Science) from Cyril Potter College of Education.
OR
At least three (3) Units of CAPE (Grades I - III) or three (3) subjects GCE 'AS/AL' Level which must include Physics, plus two (2) subjects at CSEC or GCE 'O' Level inclusive of English A.
OR
A Pass in GTEE with specialization in Ordinary Diploma in Science or Commerce together with a Pass in one of the following such as PHY031, PHY1200, CSEC, GCE 'O' Level, CAPE Unit 1 or GCE 'AS' Level Physics.
OR
Any qualification considered by the University to be equivalent to any of the above.
OR
Mature age (21 years and over) with a Pass in one of the following such as PHY031, PHY1200, CSEC, GCE 'O' Level, CAPE Unit 1 or GCE 'AS' Level Physics, or evidence of exposure to Physics, together with a Pass at the University of Guyana Entrance Examination (UGEE). |
