Passes at five (5) subjects at the IGCSE/GCE 'O' level/CSEC (General Proficiency) Examination, grades I to III (III from 1998) (or equivalent) and must include English Language, Mathematics and any two (2) of the following science subjects: Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science (Single Award).
OR
Ordinary Diploma in Science with at least a Pass with Credit from the Government Technical Institute or equivalent.
OR
Ministry of Health Laboratory Technician certificate along with IGCSE/GCE 'O' level/CSEC Mathematics, English A and 1 Science Subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Human and Social Biology, Integrated Science) Grades I-III or equivalent.
OR
American Medical Technology or American Society for Clinical Pathology or Equivalent Phlebotomy Certification with Certification Maintenance with 3 Subjects at IGCSE/GCE 'O' level/CSEC with Grades I-III or equivalent which must include Mathematics, English and 1 Science Subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Human and Social Biology, Integrated Science) at least 3 years work experience and a pass at the University of Guyana Entrance Examination.

Any qualification considered by the University to be equivalent to any of the above.
OR
Mature students (21 years and over) may be considered provided they have at least three (3) years continuous relevant experience and would have been successful at the University of Guyana Entrance Examination (UGEE).
